Tranny fluid for track use?

Post by i like my R » Sun Nov 18, 2018 10:44 pm

I've been just been using Honda MTF but it seems to degrade pretty quickly and the shifting gets notchy. What do you guys all use in your Rs for track use?

Torco RTF. If you have a clutch type LSD, add in a bottle of Torco Type F friction modifier.

I have the best luck with Amsoil Syncromesh in my H2 car with an OEM diff. Torco was a little notchy. Change it every 4 race weekends or so.

A few guys here use the Amsoil stuff and have not had any issue. Motul makes a few different transmission fluids with some geared towards racing applications.

I'm running Cusco Mission oil in mine with a Cusco plated diff.

Amsoil here as well. I wasn't a fan of Torco MTF. Their Torco RTF was better, but pricey.

Others have expressed satisfaction with:
-OEM MTF
-Half Torco RTF / Torco MTF
-Half Torco RTF / OEM MTF

Your mileage may vary.

Thanks to both Ryans for the support there!

I actually just posted in the Off-Topic Board for 10% off through the website. Minimum purchase of $50 since most items ship for free within the continental United States.

The Amsoil MTF is my best Amsoil seller. It's been a great product for the TYPE-R transmission and even more popular for the FK8 transmission which helps with that 2nd gear grinds a lot of people are getting.
