That is wild! It always amazes me what some people do to their Honda/Acuras. Are those wide body quarter panels just stuck on the outside of the original quarter panels? Glad to see you are saving her! Looking forward to updates.

Wouldn't it be spiteful if this car still passed you at the track? That's going to be a project man. Looks like a lot will need to be re-done. Interior I would just gut out and get a parts car with a nice OEM inerior. That's what I did for my 97. Still in the process of making it nicer actually. Best of luck on this.

Thanks for the advice, like I mentioned to ddwelch the leather helped preserve the panels Amazingly! Do you happen to own a PY too? I follow someone on IG that did the same exact thing you mentioned.

Actually no. I have a 97 that I just restored back to a street car. I had a thread on the old forums but too lazy to put another one up. It's similar to ddwelch's car though as both our cars have shaved bays IIRC. I think 97 you can get away with more though due to hardly any of the interior being carbon faux trim. Just the cluster I think is all it had. Here's what mine looks like currently. My advice though is try to keep it cheap, unless you're really going after the OEM look. My floor mats were like $70 on ebay as they're European knock off's. USDM ones are being priced out the ass now and most look like garbage for $300+. I think I put about 1k into the interior, and that's including the touch screen audio player I haven't installed yet. I'm still working on making the car more livable as I daily it during nice weather.

Mind boggling amount of effort put in by the PO... Just curious, did somebody steal the engine, and leave behind the alarm system?

No, this was a whole car at one point. The PO sold it to his cousin and that’s where I got the car from. He (PO’s cousin) took the motor, trans and 5 lug for his civic. After he took everything from it he listed it. He took a few unnecessary things and luckily left some other things behind. I will be removing the alarm system as well as anything that was not factory.

I came across a thread on Team-integra where someone spotted the car on the road, maybe 12 years ago.

Those are indeed wide body panels screwed on to the existing quarter panel and then layered with bondo/fiberglass.

Looks good! As for right now I’m looking to bring the car back to stock. And for the floor mats I’m going to buy a new set of the euro LHD ones. They’re half of the price as the used checkered ones.

I might have forgot to mention that the car had been inside a garage since 2004. And it only has 83k! Its a diamond in the rough for sure and barely CW. PO had it painted pearl white. I will be updating this very soon with some not so pretty pictures. Let’s just say that although he put a few self tapping screws the quarter panels are practically in perfect condition.

Nothing wrong with the genuine European LHD ITR mats. I use them daily and keep a new set of 2001 mats aside for the future.

A week or two after the car got delivered I took a trip over and inspected the quarter panels better. I was anxious because I did not know whether the panel was botched in order to make space for the wide body kit and I assume wide wheels. Luckily the quarter panels were in great shape! PO pulled the lip down in order to seal the wide body flares. I must say I was pretty happy with this, I was expecting to replace the quarter panels. I removed as much of the wide body as I could. This is when i found that he used self-taping screws to mount the kit. But gladly besides the holes for the screws they were mint. Even the original badges were still there.

I also took the time to test fit the rear body panels. I thought I was going to need a new hatch due to PO riveting a piece to each end of the center piece. Actually it wasn’t until after I bought a spare hatch that I realized I didn’t need it. I also got the shell with a single cam swap in the back. Not only that but PO also took all the locks for his civic, so it took me a while to get the hatch open. Btw the motor is still in there. I’m going to have to separate the motor from trans to be able to pull it out by hand.

That’s all I have for now. As of now the car should be going to paint by early-mid next week. While it’s getting painted I’ll be working on removing the interior panels and getting rid of the leather/vinyl.
