'98 spec had the red stitching, '96 had black. So possibly a '96 spec would work for you guys, I can check size of the ring or whatever if you need.

the pic stin has posted has the 00-01 shift boot on the right and does not have a chrome ring at all as the shift knob does not clip to the boot like on the 97-98.

stin what is the part number for that boot on the left in that photo please? does it clip correctly to the 97-98 shift knob? interested in knowing because I'm sure i could find someone to replicate the stitching to match the 97-98 knob.

It clips in and doesn't move a notch. You need to swap the frame from an integra boot that is it. One second I'll get you the part number.

I have a lot of experience with the 2001 CDM shift boot and knob. The boot is all black, black stitching. The knob is black with red stitching. The boot has a plastic chrome piece that is fitting with a rubber band on the underside and clips into the knob. The boot with the black ring is NOT the correct unit. I have one of them (see pic) and there is no way of mounting the original knob onto it.

Also, there are guys who sell an original Honda boot with red stitching which I *think* is meant for a Civic R or something.. I got one for my other ITR and it is too short for the shifter so it is sort of impossible to install properly.

Here is the proper original 2001 CDM setup:

So to summarize, the issue here is that the chrome ring black stitched boot is the only one that fits the leather ITR shifter, but this boot is discontinued?

Too bad, b/c if we could get those boots then it's pretty easy to take it to a upholstery shop and have them do the red stitching. I'm interested, I bought a leather ITR shifter and it is very nice.

I’m working on an oem “replica” setup to use for the next little while. I’m planning a complete refresh next year so I don’t want to use my brand new boot yet. I’ll do a write up once it’s done.
