I just need to make the bracket for the buttons and I'll be good to go:

As you can see, the orange light is on. That light is for the CEL signal. This is because of the lack of VSS. In the obd0 cars, the VSS is in the oem cluster. It is a two wire speed sensor, which is triggered by the spinning of the speedo cable. The car is still drivable but the problem needs a solution.

So I decided to mount the odometer behind the dash, so the ecu receives a signal and I can still keep track of the mileage of the car. My buddy is going to 3d print me a plate to hold the VSS/odometer and incorporate a bulkhead deutsch connector.

Your wiring work is top notch! I'd enjoy seeing more photos of the assembly and measuring process to learn more.

3D printing is on my to-do list, excellent idea and KISS. :okay: :beer:

Appreciate it. Luckily, my cousin is into 3d printing and designing so he enjoys helping.



So the civic project is very close to closing out but with some compromises. I decided to delay the transmission build and installing the ZC. I will consider those items phase 2, which will occur long down the road.

last items for the build:
FLP shifter (in the mail)
going back full interior (have a local plug on buying rear interior)
install tie rods
koni yellows (sell the current damper setup that came with the car)
alignment

After those items, I am gonna call it a day for a bit. I recently acquired a 1969 Porsche 912 w/ full 911e drivetrain/conversion. Given that purchase, I cannot allocate anymore resources for this build.



Side note:

We are also 3d printing some dash block offs for my s2000.

so dope! love those geeky updates. I use to tell my co workers a VSS can trigger a cell, you know how much resistance I got? :lol:

I bet you got a lot. It is odd tho, because a nonvtec obd0 ecu doesn't need the speed signal for any functions. It is a passive CEL. My buddies and I determined that the CEL trigger is included because of costs. The ecus have all the same architecture, so Honda probably left that parameter in even if a non-vtec car doesn't use the vss signal for anything. At least that's what we think, who knows.
