Winter is here! Time to rip off the bandaid and fix my quarter panel rust. This is a DB8 Type R. Looking for some advice as to how I can tackle this the CORRECT and PERMANENT way.

I would go on the hunt via junkyards/forums for a donor 4DR shell to source replacement sections. This will require an experienced body shop to cut and replace (weld + smooth) these sections. The rear doors add a layer of complexity, but I don't feel this is a deal breaker for a quality shop.

Cut out cancerous part completely, form an identical piece to go in its place (or cut one from a donor panel), weld 'er in, grind down welds and body fill minor pockmarks to restore original body line, blend in some matched paint or just get the whole thing repainted.

Most of those things are outside my skillset, but from what I know that's the "right" way to do it.

I'd personally (given my lack of experience) grab a battery powered angle grinder and hack a junkyard car up to grab as large a surrounding piece as I could, then take that into a body shop and have them do the rest. I'll get set up for welding and paint here one of these days... I have all the stuff, just a lack of space and experience.

I like the battery-powered idea here. A dremel + a diamond cutting wheel could be a lower entry option.

Check out AHC Garage and Paint Society on YouTube for inspiration on the paint part. Since the colors on these Champ White ITRs vary widely (with at least 3-4 different shades used), I'd have a professional who has been doing it a while match and blend it in. Or repaint if the whole car needs it (mine does).
