Project Save The R 01-0113 - Build Thread

Post by Mkluge84 » Mon Aug 14, 2017 8:07 am

Good morning all. I will be using this thread to document my vehicles journey.

A few months ago I purchased a damaged ITR shell (01-113 to be exact). I will be doing my first ever ground up restoration (restomod) on this vehicle. The car will be championship white and appear to be a stock 98 ITR from the exterior. The interior will be strictly business, stripped, race seats, harnesses, cage, etc, etc....

I was very torn about how to handle this project. I wanted to restore the car to it's original state from the factory, but I want this vehicle on the track, and I can't go against my love for CW. I hope one day to own an all original museum quality ITR, but before doing so I feel the need to have one I can enjoy driving more first.

This build will utilize all new parts, if a new part isn't available the original will be restored. I have already sourced a good bit of the parts, but am still in the very early stages of the build. This project is not something I am in any rush to finish. Currently I am thinking completion is at least 2 years out. Possibly longer. All depends on how the body & paint work goes (which hasn't been started). Once complete I hope to have a beautiful, brand new ITR that is track ready.

Thank you for checking out my build thread. I look forward to updating this thread with my progress

Thank You
Mark Kluge

Another important piece. I love the jdm front, but a usdm ITR deserves a usdm front end.

Part organization is going to be very important for this project. Last thing I want is to be hunting for parts when reassembly begins, or even worse find out I don't have all the parts I need.

The seller told me he didn't have the badge, and didn't know the number either. Joe Doespike was able to provide the Badge # from the VIN. I also got lucky and found the original badge while digging through the parts bins in the vehicle.

I decided this would be the first item to be restored.

First part to come with the correct color on it. Was very excited but unfortunately this part arrived damaged. I have the worst luck with receiving damaged packages. The seller shipped me out a replacement right away.
