Rear calipers are back together. Missing some cotter pins and crush washers still. Camber links are coming from hardrace so oems are just a placeholder for now. My goal is to get this thing on wheels asap. I need to swap pads and brake fluid before expo in the WRX. I'd prefer to do that on the lift.

What rear LCA's are those? You are inspiring me to go powder coat the spare knuckles I've sourced. Those look superb!

Thank you, this will be valuable as Rear LCA's are discontinued and Kingpin Machine isn't able to replace OEM Rear LCA bushings. I've added to our replacement parts thread here:

I removed the lower front brace by drilling out the spot welds. I'm going to do some type of tubular bracing setup so I can do a V mount intercooler / radiator setup. I did some rough measurements with cardboard cut outs and everything will clear fine. I won't actually do any fab work until the engine and turbo/mani is installed.

I ended up cancelling my hardrace order, just got tired of waiting. Now I have PCI upper rear camber units and went with 555 lower ball joints + outer tie rods.

Wow! The fresh champ white interior with fresh anodized black + gold bits really pop! I can't fathom the detailed work required to redo the doors, under dash, interior, etc., but it is really coming along. I hope you're proud.

Keep taking lots of high quality shots. I'd like to do another community calendar of rebuilds. :beer:

I haven't had full interior in awhile so its been pretty easy to get to all these parts. I do plan to weld some type of cage/roll bar in as I have no plans of putting interior back in.

Thanks for the kind words. I am trying to spend a lot of time on the detail work and make sure things are designed to last as long as possible without risk of rust. All snap rings are either stainless or plated now etc. Small things like that. With that said I still know about all the bad areas, by bad I mean not clean. Like the gas tank straps, fuel pump cover etc. I would like to redo those as well, maybe I should be doing this. I keep adding to the list of things to do faster then removing items.

I need to go back and remove my manual window regulators, clean them up and have them plated as well. I plan to do one more batch of plating as there are certain pieces I have missed. But that will be a ways away as I will dry fit everything first. I'm sure there are is things on the block/cylinder head that I have missed.

I'm close to having the wiring back in on the firewall and have many other small things done. I will take pictures of this when I need get the wiring all the way back in.

I had my wipers and front hubs powder coated. The wipers came out really nice. Glad I didn't spend the money on new arms. I've also gone with ARP wheel studs, oem length.

How old are your gas tank straps? If aged, I would replace now. I've seen those fail a few times on track. One fails, no one is the wiser, and then the second fails and one is out a gas tank. The alternative is ~$75 for new straps (assuming Honda hasn't discontinued them also.)

The detail work is inspiring. You are motivating me to consider powder coating my suspension bits. Two questions:

Q1: How concerned with you for the machined services on front and rear pieces? Ex: Front knuckle. I see the rear hubs were masked off but I wonder whether I should mask the front knuckle mating surfaces.

Q2: What studs are you running? I wanted to avoid the standard ARP studs due to overly long length so I made this thread:

Good to know. :beer: They are original, I will drop the tank and take a look at them and will replace if needed. I guess I will clean up all that stuff while im at it.

The rear hubs are not powder coated. Since it seems most of the rear bearings all include the hubs. The rear hubs I got were centric - 40640018. I went with these as they use NTN japan bearings. I will make sure to spray fluid film on these before mating the wheels to the car. I've also sprayed fluid film on all metal to metal contact points.


The front hubs I had powder coated just because they always get reused when replacing bearings. For the front hubs it will be fine with the painted surface. The wheels are painted on the inside so this isn't really a mating surface like ball joints. All of the holes in the front knuckle (upper ball joint, lower ball joint, tie right, wheel bearing) were taped off and have no paint in them.

I can include more pictures of this if interested.

The ARP studs are 100-7710

Not much new to report on the R. I will have it on wheels and brakes going this coming week.

In the meantime I sold our STI and picked up a 2017 golf (for the wife) and an 03 s2000 for myself.

Not really digging the wheels so will want to pick up some oem wheels at some point. Some history on the car, was originally purchased in texas, then sold 10k miles later to someone in st louis. I bought it from the person in st louis with 22k on the odo. Car is in great shape, garage kept and covered. No mods done, just the wheels.
