I think the azenis would probably work for you. They are also being used as the solo spec tire for the FR-S/BRZ. A couple pages back there was some general impressions by Christian about the azenis which sound promising.

But taking a quick look at Tire Rack, I agree 205/45/16 has a lot better selection. That opens you up to the RS4 and the Dunlop ZIII, both which I think would probably last longer than an RE71r or Rival S

Yup, ^^^.

The Azenis got refreshed with the 615k+ version a little over a year ago (IIRC). I posted some feedback on it a couple pages back. The RS4 is the better choice of the 2 given equal sizing... but they’re both solid options for a Trackday/Street/casual autox tire.

Thanks for the input guys. I’ll keep my eyes open for some 15” wheels as well.

16'' cliffs: Pick the tire (that supports 16") and then go with 205/45 or 215/45, no tire MFG offers both. There are minimal differences between the two sizes.

More: If tracking, 16'' are less economical than 15'' (re: tires are a wear item.)

Limited, one weekend thus far in the rain/fog. I have yet to get the tire pressures "dialed." They appear to prefer higher PSI with comparable grip to RS3's (ie good.)

I'm looking for a good all-around street tire. I live in AZ so I'm not too concerned with ice/water (iRa does not come out when it rains), but we have very hot summer temps. In the past I have used tires on the AP1 that get a little slick when the temps rise over 110*.

Most of the posts in this thread are relating to AutoX and SCCA - I will be doing none of that. FYI, I'm running the stock '98 rims. What do you suggest as a good tire to pick up? TIA.

Most of the posts are relative to SCCA/autox because that’s the easiest and most accessible data for the “hot street tires” out right now. ;)

For a street, street tire, I’d look at the Continental ContactSport. I haven’t bought a set yet but have heard nothing but good stuff about them as a street tire.

If you want something sportier, any of the 200TW stuff should be fine too.

Has anyone run Nankang AR1's?

No experience or even secondhand info on the Nankang... but Yokohama is re-releasing the A052 in 7/32nds thread depth and 200TW. Additional sizes from 14”-20” are also being released.
