Black strip on bottom of bumper
Hey all, quick question, the black strip that is on the bottom of the '98+ Integras, what sort of black is that, a satin or matte? Mine is body colored and needs to be painted. Any suggestion on brands (SEM?) or tips on the process? Thanks in advance!
**EDIT** I found out that the outer edge is supposed to be black, not body colored.

To my knowledge, nearly every trim black on 90s honda/acura are a nearly exact match to the SEM Trim Black paint, including these moldings.

I think SEM makes Satin, Matte, and Gloss?
That said, from searching it appears 39143 is used a lot on Honda trim.
Is it worth getting Trim Black Ultra for that small strip? Masking seems like it is going to be a pain to do precisely!

39143 is the right stuff. I've used a few cans of it restoring CRX trim (which there is plenty of trim on) and it looks great.
Prep is very important, any oils will fisheye.
The key to doing it properly for the masking is a high quality 3M tape like frog tape. There is a guy running a youtube channel called Paint Society who is a big Honda fan. He is loosely associated with Acura Honda Classic (AHC) from what I can tell. He has some good videos on masking.

Can someone tell me if the areas on the outside of the insert (notated with the blue arrows) are painted black, or is body colored (white for me)? Not sure if I mask those sides or not?

If someone could check this for me I would really appreciate it, I want to get this painted and back on the car. The masking is going to be a PITA given the small space. The surface isn't exactly smooth, hopefully the paint doesn't run underneath the tape!

Which car is this for, and is this front or rear bumper and can you take a zoomed out photo for better context?

Sorry! This is for a '98 ITR, rear bumper. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to mask the sides of the insert, or the base of the insert. The area in question is highlighted.

Correct, that section should be black. Here is a example from online from a recent auction:CW FL5 CTR wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 9:29 am Sorry! This is for a '98 ITR, rear bumper.
