96 Spec ITR Budget Big Brake Kit

Post by 4DoorITR » Mon Jan 23, 2023 4:23 pm

(Edited 1/24/23 due to me being an idiot and overlooking basic details)

Hey guys. Luke sent me a link to Honed Developments for something suspension related. While I was there, I noticed a Porsche 986 front brake caliper conversion kit for 4x100 cars with 262mm brakes/knuckles. I am sure this will be viewed as unnecessary by most, but I simply want to compile this information in case someone is ever interested. I'm sure a little extra brake size will help with heat on track (this combo apparently doesn't upset the brake balance either).

The kit is designed to use 2006 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works front rotors. This is great for the lucky ducks who have 4x100 cars, but us 4x114.3 guys are chopped liver.

The JCW rotor dimensions can be found here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 16&jsn=502
The 4x114.3 Prelude VTEC rotor (used to replace 96 spec brake setups) dimensions are found here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 96&jsn=456

Think the 10mm difference in rotor diameter will matter?
The Porsche calipers have exploded in price due to the VW guys fitting them to their Golfs.

I covered a lot of this here: viewtopic.php?t=31

I see you posted in there already too.

Sorry for not seeing this months ago, but hopefully helpful for future reference.
