Wifeys demands equals progrès....

well it's my daughters 21st Birthday grad celebration and my wife wanted some parts moved out of the house. One of those was this wing I had purchased from a FB friend.Image

this was shocking, the trunk was drilled prior to my ownership, but the holes were so off. :(

Next was getting the headlights out
  • tested hids prior to install these retrofit headlights are unkind to larger fingers
  • modified Ebay fog harness to operate like EDM fogs
  • testing Ebay fogs w/ various bulbs & heat ranges. 35w halogen (lowest temp & lumen output) 55w (halogens are bright but run significantly hotter). Waiting to test 35w HID & 35w led (arriving today). I can only measure lumens visually ATM but I'll be using a thermometer for heat output.

I was so worried about the front end not lining up (aftermarket fenders & bumper), but I feel at ease. It's not bad, but it's not 100% the big tell tell will be once the grill is on, w/ hood closed. If the gap is large off to the frame shop she will go. If I ever respray the car the OEM PCS will be sourced. I'm missing one fender and a hood to complete an OE front. Doing it on the cheap I also learned what too thick of a clear can do or an uncured base can cause.....shrinkage. This leaves a crinkle in either substrate.

found a mugen style lip on the roof of my old building when moving out and it fits the theme perfectly. Had a real badge from years ago and figured I may as well use it, my car, my problems, so its half real  I'll work on final fit and finish after some other mock ups.

100w Halogen vs 8W LED? I'm choosing the 8W LED as the flood lighting and operating temp is preferred. I'll continue my hunt in LEDs as these are only 3000 Lumen combined. I guess we can say things are getting serious...I've ordered a light meter :geek:
Image

  • Hella HALOGEN
Size: Perfect OE bulb replacement

Temp: Unfavorable - even at a distance it runs HOT
Image

Illumination: Crisper cut off, seems as if it provides brighter but less light.
Image
  • AUXLIGHT LED
Size: Lengthy, base is bulky - retention springs had to be opened minimally, Sits deep inside light diffuser

Temp: Favorable - housing and light output are cool to the touch
Image

Illumination: fair cut off, very nice flood effect

Been busy for sometime now, passed my state exam for Life insurance. :D Onto SIE studies next. This week I hope to tackle my headliner & sunroof fabrics, get the dash back in and incorporate an S2k push start button.

In lighting news, my light meter has arrived! While on my hunt for the "ultimate yellow bulb," I found another LED bulb that boasts 12000 Lumens. That is 4x the light output of the yellow bulb in my previous post, if this is true, it's exciting (for me).

scored this console.

couldn't stand the thought of a gray wheel w/ black interior, even it's only temporary.

The accessory spoiler attaches at the third brake light for the wiring harness. Who or why drilled those holes? There’s two dots on the bottom of the trunk that mark where they need go for the spoiler mounting and you got a template for which side the wiring harness goes. I spy a 96 spoiler in one your photos. This photo idk…. The wiring harness shouldn’t have needed to go outside the trunk.

Let me elaborate. The two mounting holes are marked on the deck lid . The wiring harness went through on the third hole but didn’t penetrate metal beyond the decklid.

Thanks, I wasn't confused at all. Whomever installed the wing prior (possible previous owner) clearly didn't know what they were doing or simply didn't care. The current spoiler is mounted on the dimples. Me personally, I was just doing an overall vibe check to see if I even liked the wing w/ the way the car is setup now. That and the Mrs. demanded clean up.

new LED find previously mentioned has arrived

Color changing more interior pcs.

Repairing interior pcs and prepping to repair some.
glove box edge crack - JB weld epoxy + layered sheets of paper towel
dash side trim clip legs - super glue + baking soda (this blew my mind :trophy: )

Anyone know of a good fiberglass "repair kit," or have any tips on door panel repair? I'd like to change the fabric on the door panels and reinforce the armor while doing so.

can't find my fabric, but I plan to start w/ passenger DP as it's the worst one.
