In 5yrs of looking for a cat, I've never even seen one come up for sale, new or used.
Reality is they just aren't out there and a used one at this point in time will have a limited life span anyways. As discussed before, there is no direct fit aftermarket for a type r. I was fortunate enough to locate a comptech cat, which is closest to oem as I'll probably get. Fit and finish is spot on. But again, these just aren't out there either. My suggestion is the magnaflow but that will require modification to direct bolt onto stock type r components.

They're out there. I missed out on a full setup recently that consisted of a very clean complete exhaust system that was cat to muffler. Missed it by seconds.....

I used to live there (South El Monte). I don't recall seeing many ITRs down there...

I'm personally not on Facebook either but I have some good friends on the lookout for me.

I'm not sure who's it was but I actually sent the payment of 1500 to there PayPal then they refunded it immediately saying someone else paid first so I went and offered them $2200 shipped to Jacksonville FL and never heard anything back from them....... I was and still am a little sour about it.........

Same. I occasionally to use the wife's FB to troll for parts, but I'm not much on the hunt for anything anymore. Only when I'm flush with a work bonus or something Offerup also seems to be a good place for parts. I have a buddy down there in SoCal that will pick up and package anything.

Looking for a clean USDM mid pipe to install on my 01 PY.

For reference the USDM unit will measure around 24" from cat flange to resonator and the JDM unit will measure around 29"

Yes I did. However I am unsure if the catalyst will be sufficient but the overall plan is to see if the catalyst is efficient and if it is then great.. if it isn't then I will have a 48 state carb compliant unit installed with some OEM flanges I have lying around. I really want the OEM unit to have with the car when the time comes to sell it..

However I am unsure if the catalyst will be sufficient but the overall plan is to see if the catalyst is efficient and if it is then great.. if it isn't then I will have a 48 state carb compliant unit installed with some OEM flanges I have lying around. I really want the OEM unit to have with the car when the time comes to sell it..

CARB is California Air Resources Board - the most strict emissions standards in the country. CARB-compliant will always infer 50-state legality and assuming a cat is selected in accordance with my guide in the tech section, will allow a passing smog in any state in the USA (and probably the world where applicable). New York DEC and Colorado CDPHE (the other sticklers) appear to both defer to CARB certification.

Cats sold as "off-road only" are basically just pipes with an O2 bung (as applicable) and won't catalyze the exhaust. These will fail any strict visual check (no OEM part # or CARB EO reference) and emissions checks (sub-par catalyzing effect). You would probably be in violation of federal emissions law, but could run one in an area without checks.

Federally legal cats are the cheaper "48-state" cats. They contain less catalyzing substrate, and will not pass checks in CA or NY.

If it's in budget and your OEM one turns out to be a bust, just find a CARB-legal one and confidently never have to worry about devaluing your car, as it will be legal and hassle-free to sell in any state.

Exactly why I want the carb certified cat. I need any potential buyers to know they will not have any issues with smogging and or registering when the time comes for me to sell.
