Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

On PCI UCA is there any concern about the exposed spherical right over the tire? I thought about giving them a try since I haven’t been thrilled with the Ingalls front camber kit (and it confuses my alignment shop) but especially if it’s seeing any street time wouldn’t that bearing be likely to suf...

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

Sounds like some good progress. :) What was the concensus from the other thread? More front spring/roll stiffness to keep the chassis flatter and the outside front from losing camber? I did another event, this time it was slightly wet/dry, I think the setup has some differences that I will need to ...

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

In for discussion as well. We have similar setups and I too have felt the inside rear lift. IMO, there’s nothing wrong with carrying a rear. The trick is that you don’t really want it waaaay up in the air. Once it takes off, the rear is unable to transfer load laterally... which means that it moves...

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

Yes the welded collars are right up on the bushings for the 24mm bar. Is it possible the flat bar is intended to add additional clearance for the bolt-on collar to avoid contact with the subframe (on some applications)? Or they may be there to provide a completely flat surface for the bushing to si...

Re: Track Day street car safety?

Sorry for the delay... end of Q4 at work. :( In a nutshell, Hubbard/Downing developed the HANS (which was generally a good thing). They got into bed with SFI and were the ones to write the 38.1 H&N spec for SFI. As a result, they included physical features/characteristics that are core to the HA...

Re: Track Day street car safety?

I tend to look at safety as an all or nothing type deal. If you're going to get a fixed back seat, I recommend: roll bar, 5/6 harness, and hans device. If you're going to get a roll bar, I recommend: FIA Fixed back seat, 5/6 harness, and hans device. etc. etc. From my understanding, if you only get...

Re: Track Day street car safety?

Yeppers, there are quite a few H&N devices out there. HANS has run some out of business before getting sold by Hubbard/Downing (ironically enough, to Simpson). The Hybrid line was originally advertised as working with 3 point belts and then remarketed with only the R3 (IIRC) and then the Hybrid ...

Re: Track Day street car safety?

1- slide seat back 2- give belt a sharp jerk 3- slide seat forward 4- now you’ll be held in place/not have to hold yourself in position Fuck HANS. They’re the most recognizable name in Head & Neck safety but have appalling business practices. Check out the Simpson Hybrid S... it works with 3 poi...

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

I have the worst luck with installing rear sway bars. I should have known I was going to encounter a ton of weird issues that were previously fixed, but rear its ugly hole when I went to install the 25mm bar, I think I damaged the threads that the asr subframe brace has on the kit along with a whol...
